General Accident Insurance Company (Jamaica) Limited was incorporated as a local Jamaican insurer in 1981 and the original shareholders were General Accident Fire & Life Assurance Company (GAFLAC) and Musson Jamaica Limited. In 1988, Phoenix of Jamaica Insurance Company was purchased and its portfolio was merged with General Accident. Currently, the sole shareholder is Musson Jamaica Limited.

General Accident caters for both broker and direct business and writes all non-life, non-health classes of business. The modern and flexible on-line computer system contributes significantly to the prompt and efficient service of which the company is proud.

General Accident is solidly backed by the most financially secure Re-insurers and this contributes to their ability to honour claims on a most timely basis.
